1. How do you stay motivated and push yourself in training?
Over the years I’ve found everyone has there off days where it’s hard to stay motivated, when I’m having one of those days I find it’s my coaches and the people I train with that are the most helpful.
2. Many athletes have pre-game rituals that help them get into the zone. What are some of your personal pre-game rituals or routines that you believe help you get in the zone before hitting the beach or pool?
When racing in the pool I have found that the last thing in warm up I do needs to be a pace effort otherwise I will forget what it feels like when I am swimming
In the surf I always have to get wet before starting, walking off the line to splash myself helps to get me focused.
3. Reflecting on your career so far, what would you consider as the most memorable or defining moment?
So far would be between my state iron win or the Shannon Eckstein super Sunday final both were amazing experiences for me.
4. Are there any specific achievements or milestones that you are particularly proud of and that you feel have significantly impacted your journey as an athlete?
Definitely my Iron win, but the most defining and impactful one for me was getting out touched for 3rd place at national open water which meant I didn’t medal because it forced me to train so much harder when I got back to make sure I never felt like that again.
5. Beyond your athletic pursuits, do you have any hobbies or passions that might surprise people?
When I get some free time i quite enjoy a game of golf.
6. How do you balance your intense training and competition schedule with personal interests outside of your sport?
I have been extremely lucky that lots of my friends have similar workloads to me and do the same sports so that when we do have free time It often lines up.
7. What are your top 3 ENGINE products (either for racing or training)?
My favourite three would have to be the royal goggles, the iron Jammer 3s for racing in and the club cuts for training.
