How do you stay motivated and push yourself in training?
I am a very competitive person so I am always trying to get the best out of myself at training and stay motivated by striving to achieve my goals. I am also very fortunate to train alongside some incredible athletes at Newport SLSC, who help me to push myself in training every day.
Many athletes have pre-game rituals that help them get in the zone. What are some of your personal pre-game rituals or routines that you believe help you get in the zone before hitting the beach or pool?
I like to have a good warm-up before a competition to get a good feel of the water and then think about the process of what I am about to do.
Reflecting on your career so far, what would you consider as the mots memorable or defining moment?
The most memorable and defining moment of my career so far would probably have to be winning the Coolangatta Gold last year after spending a bit of time away from the sport and after coming 2nd in 2019 in a sprint finish. It was very special moment that was built on the back of a long few months of preparation where I was supported by some incredible coaches, team mates, friends and family.
Are there any specific achievements or milestones that you are particularly proud of and that you feel have significantly impacted your journey as an athlete?
I am always very proud and have been fortunate enough to be selected to represent Australia and NSW on a few different occasions across a couple of different sports. It is something that fills me with immense pride and is a big honour, and I love being able to race as part of a team alongside other athletes who you might not be in the same club with. Having the opportunity to lead some of these teams has not only significantly impacted my journey as a athlete, but also contributed to my development as a person which I have really valued.
Beyond your athletic pursuits, do you have any hobbies or passions that might surprise people?
Outside of my athletic pursuits, I enjoy cooking, reading, spending time with friends and family.
How do you balance your intense training and competition schedule with personal interests outside of your sport?
It can be a struggle, I am usually very busy! Being organised and efficient with my time has helped me to balance my training and competition schedule alongside my personal interests outside of my sport so far.
