How do you stay motivated and push yourself in training?
I enjoy my training so it makes it easy to push myself hard as well as have fun. I’m a part of a great team at west beach which helps push me and keep me focused on my goals.
Many athletes have pre-game rituals that help them get in the zone. What are some of your personal pre-game rituals or routines that you believe help you get in the zone before hitting the beach or pool?
I like to make sure I pack everything the night before so I’m ready to go in the morning. I also make sure all my gear and craft is ready to go so I don’t have to worry about that stuff when I’m down on the beach. On the line I try and relax and focus on the process rather than the outcome of the race. I take a few deep breaths to calm down and focus.
Reflecting on your career so far, what would you consider as the most memorable or defining moment?
My most defining moment in my career so far would be racing well in the iron final at Aussies in u14s. It gave me some confidence and inspiration going into u15s.
Are there any specific achievements or milestones that you are particularly proud of and that you feel have significantly impacted your journey as an athlete?
Winning 3 state board titles in a row (u12, u13, u14). Also representing my state in the interstate championships at Maroubra in 2024. It was a great opportunity and I was proud to race for South Australia.
Beyond your athletic pursuits, do you have any hobbies or passions that might surprise people?
Outside of sport, I enjoy surfing and spending time at my grandparents farm hunting, riding motorbikes and driving Utes. I also run a photography/Media agency - @sea_salt_media
How do you balance your intense training and competition schedule with personal interests outside of your sport?
I love my training so it’s easy to find balance and have fun with it. I try and plan my week out on Sunday’s so I stay organised and can find time to do other things outside of surf.
What are your top 3 ENGINE products (either for racing or training)?
Bullet Goggles: I wear these everyday in the pool and surf. They are super comfortable and look clean.
Puffer Jacket: I love the Engine puffer jacket because they are so warm and comfy. I wear it to all my morning trainings when it’s cold (especially in winter).
Club cuts: I love the club cuts because they are so versatile, durable and there are lots of different cool colours to chose from.
