How do you stay motivated and push yourself in training?
I always think about the characteristics at training I can control like my stroke count or technique and how this is going to pay off when I race.
Many athletes have pre-game rituals that help them get into the zone. What are some of your personal pre-game rituals or routines that you believe help you get in the zone before hitting the beach or pool?
When I'm racing in a pool by the beach I always love to have a pre race ocean swim and get up nice and early so I know I'm prepared mentally and physically to perform my best. I also have a very specific pre race activation that gets me in the zone.
Reflecting on your career so far, what would you consider as the most memorable or defining moment?
My first ever national medal in 2023 after getting 2 4ths the year before it was a really defining moment because it showed me that I could compete with the girl at the top.
Are there any specific achievements or milestones that you are particularly proud of and that you feel have significantly impacted your journey as an athlete?
I am particularly proud of being chosen as a leader in the NSW team for school nationals last year.
Beyond your athletic pursuits, do you have any hobbies or passions that might surprise people?
I love scrapbooking and knitting as it allows me to give my brain a break from school and swimming.
How do you balance your intense training and competition schedule with personal interests outside of your sport?
Unless I'm away I have a points system for the week where I rank activities from 2 to 5 points from knitting to music and meditating to having a dinner with friends or a movie night and I have to build up to 20 points a week to ensure my life doesn't revolve around school and swimming.
What are your top 3 ENGINE products (either for racing or training)?
1. Santorini's because I wear them every session.
2. My engine hoodies because they are so practical and comfy to wear for any occasion.
3. Engine activewear because it's so nice and comfy to train in.
What something's you live by?
Remember the past, look forward to the future but live in the present.
