1. How do you stay motivated and push yourself in training?
How I stay motivated and push myself in training is through setting clear goals both short-term and long-term. I break down my training into manageable segments and celebrate small victories along the way. Having a supportive team and coach at South Maroubra SLSC also keeps me motivated, as we push each other to be our best.
2. Many athletes have pre-game rituals that help them get into the zone. What are some of your personal pre-game rituals or routines that you believe help you get in the zone before hitting the beach or pool?
My pre-game rituals or routines before competition is that I always arrive early to familiarize myself with the beach conditions. I like to listen to a specific playlist that pumps me up and helps me concentrate. I do a series of dynamic stretches and visualizations to mentally prepare. Finally, I have a quiet moment to focus on my breathing and set my intentions for the race.
3. Reflecting on your career so far, what would you consider as the most memorable or defining moment?
The most memorable or defining moment of my career was winning 3 gold and 2 silver medals at the 2024 Australian Championships as a beach athlete through the ranks in the beach sprint, beach flags and multiple beach relays. I raced in two U17 relays and won 2 Australian Gold medals. These milestones have not only validated my efforts but have also taught me resilience and teamwork, which are very valuable in sports and life.
4. Are there any specific achievements or milestones that you are particularly proud of and that you feel have significantly impacted your journey as an athlete?
The specific achievement that I am particularly proud of and that has significantly impacted my journey as an athlete was representing my club in the NSW Interstate Team. On that day, I took home three 1st places in the Pathway U15 beach sprint, Pathway U15 beach flags and the Pathway Relay. NSW defeated QLD in the overall tally and officially became the best state of SLS in Australia.
5. Beyond your athletic pursuits, do you have any hobbies or passions that might surprise people?
I have a strong passion for photography, especially using a GoPro in the oceans all around NSW. It's a great way for me to capture moments from unique angles and perspectives, whether it's during training sessions, competitions, or exploring new places. Photography allows me to express creativity and document memories in a way that complements my active lifestyle.
6. How do you balance your intense training and competition schedule with personal interests outside of your sport?
How I balance my intense training and competition schedule with my personal interests outside of sports is that I allocate specific times in my schedule for both training and pursuing my personal interests and hobbies. This ensures that I have dedicated time for each without feeling overwhelmed.
