How do you stay motivated and push yourself in training?
I have a goal I want to achieve. Simple as that. I don't want to waste all the good work I've put in, so I force myself to stay motivated so that the work I've put in stays valuable.
Many athletes have pre-game rituals that help them get into the zone. What are some of your personal pre-game rituals or routines that you believe help you get in the zone before hitting the beach or pool?
Cold shower, 3 Weet-Bix, Coffee. Every time I race.
Reflecting on your career so far, what would you consider as the most memorable or defining moment?
My first National medals in 2018 really showed me what I was capable of.
Are there any specific achievements or milestones that you are particularly proud of and that you feel have significantly impacted your journey as an athlete?
I was pretty proud to go under 1:50.0 in the 200m freestyle last year. But the first time going under 2 minutes also felt like a huge breakthrough.
Beyond your athletic pursuits, do you have any hobbies or passions that might surprise people?
I do a lot of music. I'm in a band called Munchy Dolphin and was lucky enough to have my song played on Triple J.
How do you balance your intense training and competition schedule with personal interests outside of your sport?
The balance is tough. But it's the most important thing to help get the most out of your chosen interests. It gives your brain a break from the intensity of it all. Understanding that you need the balance is key, as is implementing it on purpose.
What are your top 3 ENGINE products (either for racing or training)?
Bullet Race Suit 100%. My traditional briefs and club cut pools always get compliments.
