How do you stay motivated and push yourself in training?
I stay motivated by setting goals and working to reach them. I always go to training and give 100 percent and believe mindset is everything.
Many athletes have pre-game rituals that help them get into the zone. What are some of your personal pre-game rituals or routines that you believe help you get in the zone before hitting the beach or pool?
My most important pre game routine is listening to my favourite songs on my playlist, this helps pump me up and ready to race. The Trigg Tent always has a great atmosphere on carnival days.
Reflecting on your career so far, what would you consider as the most memorable or defining moment?
My most memorable moments were winning 3 Gold medals at Aussies and coming 3rd in National Open Water 5km, I'm still smiling from both of these.
Are there any specific achievements or milestones that you are particularly proud of and that you feel have significantly impacted your journey as an athlete?
Consistently trying to improve has led to consistency on the podium, winning my first State Gold a couple of years ago was a turning point for me, I saw all the hours of training pay off and made me then want to strive to do well nationally.
Beyond your athletic pursuits, do you have any hobbies or passions that might surprise people?
As most swimmers know there is not much time for other passions, but any free time I have is spent on the basketball court and with friends.
How do you balance your intense training and competition schedule with personal interests outside of your sport?
My favourite way to chill out when not at training or competitions is to shoot some hoops, I find the balance between social life and training pretty easy when you have friends with similar interests that understand the demands of the sport.
