How do you stay motivated and push yourself in training?
By surrounding myself with people I enjoy training with, and who push me to train hard. Having other people around you that are pushing you makes it really easy to motivate yourself.
Many athletes have pre-game rituals that help them get into the zone. What are some of your personal pre-game rituals or routines that you believe help you get in the zone before hitting the beach or pool?
I always make sure to watch the conditions before any race, particularly looking for the best way in and out of the wave zone, and things I can use to help me.
Reflecting on your career so far, what would you consider as the most memorable or defining moment?
Winning the first race of the SSTL in 2023 was my first major win on a national level. I was only 16 at the time, racing against opens.
Are there any specific achievements or milestones that you are particularly proud of and that you feel have significantly impacted your journey as an athlete?
My first ever medal was in the U14 ironman in huge surf conditions. This was the first time I realised what I was capable of doing, and it inspired me to work as hard as I could to be the best competitor I could.
Beyond your athletic pursuits, do you have any hobbies or passions that might surprise people?
I love being outdoors, and spend a lot of time working on a farm.
How do you balance your intense training and competition schedule with personal interests outside of your sport?
I definitely need to make sure I am organised, and keeping on top of study and other things outside of sport, so that I can maximise my time at training.
