How do you stay motivated and push yourself in training?
Training with such a great group of people at Burleigh who are all so fun, supportive and hardworking and having a coach such as Kingy that believes in you and supports you in everything that I do definitely makes it easier to turn up to training each day and push myself.
Many athletes have pre-game rituals that help them get into the zone. What are some of your personal pre-game rituals or routines that you believe help you get in the zone before hitting the beach or pool?
I don't have any, I just go with the flow and do what feels right on the day.
Reflecting on your career so far, what would you consider as the most memorable or defining moment?
One of the most memorable moments would be getting the call up to race the last three rounds of the Professional Nutri-grain Series 2019/20. I was 16 at the time and had just finished school when I got the phone call asking if I would like a wildcard spot.
Are there any specific achievements or milestones that you are particularly proud of and that you feel have significantly impacted your journey as an athlete?
Making the QLD youth state teams. These were my first major achievements and I had such an amazing experience competing and making lifelong friends. These trips showed me the amazing opportunities that this sport can give you.
Beyond your athletic pursuits, do you have any hobbies or passions that might surprise people?
I love anything to do with the ocean/beach, like surfing, jet skiing, swimming, I even work at the beach as a council lifeguard. Away from the ocean I love to cook and bake.
How do you balance your intense training and competition schedule with personal interests outside of your sport?
This is something that I am still learning how to manage. Between work, studying a bachelor of primary education full-time, racing/competing and finding time for myself to relax it is hard to have a healthy balance. I am slowly learning to listen to my body more and not be afraid to take a session or two off training to give myself a break.
What are your top 3 ENGINE products (either for racing or training)?
Brazillia one-piece, Santorini's, Weapon goggles.
