How do you stay motivated and push yourself in training?
I stay motivated by reflecting on the pass results good and bad and they are the ones to push me to be bigger and better. With also good motivating morning alarms to get me up. I push myself during training by being with the squad I train with. They push me to be the best paddler I can be.
Many athletes have pre-game rituals that help them get into the zone. What are some of your personal pre-game rituals or routines that you believe help you get in the zone before hitting the beach or pool?
I'd have to say before a big race music is the absolute best to bring the nerves down but each carnival it's a new song to listen to. On a side note too during the races I'll have that song playing in my head most of the way.
Reflecting on your career so far, what would you consider as the most memorable or defining moment?
In my first year u/17 winning the single ski at State and Aussies. Making the junior kayaking worlds team to go off to Hungary in 2022.
Aussies 2023 getting second in my first year u/19 single ski but to make it better my fellow club mates got 1st and 3rd as well.
Are there any specific achievements or milestones that you are particularly proud of and that you feel have significantly impacted your journey as an athlete?
Moving clubs to Newport was a big step. Yet being surrounded by like minded people and making new friends gave me the surge to work hard and be better.
Beyond your athletic pursuits, do you have any hobbies or passions that might surprise people?
Out of surf life saving and kayaking I am a fulltime 3rd yr plumber.
How do you balance your intense training and competition schedule with personal interests outside of your sport?
You've got to find out what your priorities are and work to be able to give yourself the best opportunity to reach your goals.
What are your top 3 ENGINE products (either for racing or training)?
1. Engine iron jammer - just for their comfort and mobility you get out of the plus they look stylish.
2. Engine hats - I love a peak hat for when at carnivals just to keep me protected from the sun
3. Engine activewear - Such comfy great material to workout and sweat in.
