MOLOKAI TO OAHU 2016

Matt Bevilacqua powered ahead to win his second consecutive Molokai to Oahu paddleboard championship, in Hawaii. Matt’s blistering pace setting a record time of 4.29.32 smashing the previous record of 4.40.31. He was closely followed by Australian Daniel Shade who finished in 4.33.28 and fellow Engine athlete and Kurrawa surf club team mate Matt Poole who finished in third in a time of 4.38.13

First run in 1997, The M2O has become one of the most challenging paddleboard races on the paddleboard calendar. Run across the Ka’iwi channel which separates the islands of Molokai to the south and Oahu to the north. The channel has a reputation of being one of the world’s most treacherous bodies of water.

Athletes compete in either the prone or stand up categories and race for more than 50kms with the average crossing taking over 6 hours.
