COMMON TUMBLE TURN MISTAKES WITH COACH ANDREW

Feeling frustrated, stuck and all over the shop when it comes to turns? We've got you with coach Andrew!

Here are 3 common tumble turn mistakes:

Head up to take a breath before your turn.

This is a major no-no. When going into your turn you want to maximise your efficiency by keeping as much momentum into the wall. When you lift up your head you loose this.

To fix the timing of your breath use your training to your advantage. Remember, over time you'll stop feeling like you're running out of air during the underwater phase of your turn. Consistency is key here.

Being too far away from the wall.

When going into the wall you want to push off strongly. If you're too far away this is difficult to execute. Work out how many strokes it takes you to get to the wall and remove a stroke.

Being too close to the wall.

Same here, being too close to the wall means you're more likely to collide or scrape yourself on the wall. The key here is to not get discouraged and keep practicing at training.
