How do you stay motivated and push yourself in training?
During training I try to surround myself with like minded people that will push me as well as themselves to achieve similar goals. I set myself goals at the start of each season, long and short term goals and try to tick them off as the season goes on.
Many athletes have pre-game rituals that help them get into the zone. What are some of your personal pre-game rituals or routines that you believe help you get in the zone before hitting the beach or pool?
Before hitting the beach for training or before a race at a carnival I always listen to music beforehand to get my head in the right zone and I will always go into the water before a race to either wash my goggles or board in the water. I’ll also go under the water to get a feel for the water temperature so it’s not a shock when I start the race.
Reflecting on your career so far, what would you consider as the most memorable or defining moment?
My most memorable moment in my career was when I won the nsw state board race because I had my whole squad and mates there after to get on the podium with me to celebrate.
Are there any specific achievements or milestones that you are particularly proud of and that you feel have significantly impacted your journey as an athlete?
The milestones that I’m most proud of was to get 2nd in under 19s board race at Aussies and 5th in the iron. Also at state winning the nsw 19s board and 3rd in the iron.
Beyond your athletic pursuits, do you have any hobbies or passions that might surprise people?
My other passion is playing oztag.
How do you balance your intense training and competition schedule with personal interests outside of your sport?
Organisation throughout the week to make sure I have time for uni, work, training, and family and friends.
